BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Juno Isles Civic Association Board of Directors was held on Monday, October 1, 2007, at Holy Spirit Church on Ellison Wilson Road. 

 

v     Roll Call and Call to Order:

Kathy Greene called the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m.  The following Board members were present:

v     Agenda Review:   Kathy Greene

 

The standard agenda will be followed.

 

 

v     Approve Minutes:   Kathy Greene

 

September 4, 2007 Regular meeting – Wayne made a motion to approve the minutes, as amended. Doug seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed unanimously.

 

 

v     Old Business

 

The Stropp fence negotiations continue.

 

 

v     New Business

 

  • The appointment of an Election Committee was discussed. Kathy described the responsibilities of the Election Committee. The committee includes two Board members and three non-Board members. Ways to encourage homeowners’ interest in serving on the Board were discussed. Doug made a motion to put three signs out notifying residents of open positions on the Board. Wayne seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed unanimously. Sign design and content were discussed. Board members Dave and Doug and resident Ed Knapp volunteered to serve on the Election Committee. A newsletter ad was discussed. Dave was appointed the chairman of the committee.

 

  • The annual homeowners’ meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2007.

 

 

v     Treasurer’s Report

 

Wayne reported the balance in the Enterprise National Bank accounts have been transferred to Anchor Commercial Bank, and the Enterprise National Bank accounts are closed. Approximately 70% of the homeowners have paid their dues. He will send a second notice in two weeks. The automatic draft for the FPL front island will be transferred from Enterprise to Anchor.

 

 

v     Committee Reports

 

  • Architectural Committee – Wayne Hatten

 

September 7, 2007 Committee meeting - Plans were reviewed and approved for a fence at 1720 Ardley Road and a rear addition at 1904 Ascott Road.

 

September 20, 2007 Committee meeting - Plans were reviewed and approved for a major renovation at 2092 Ascott Road.

 

There was a discussion to have a tentative date for an Architectural Committee meeting on the 1st Tuesday of every month. Any plans submitted for approval could be reviewed by the Committee after the regularly scheduled Board meeting on the 1st Monday of every month.

 

Wayne left at 7:45 p.m.

 

  • Covenants Committee – Blas Contreras

 

Blas and Rhonda met on September 22, 2007 and designed a letter to be sent to residents in violation of The Covenants. The letters reference the section of The Covenants in which the violation occurs. The letters can be distributed when the JICA website is updated with the current version of The Covenants.

 

Copies of the JICA Monthly Violations for October were distributed to The Board. Blas discussed the violations listed.

 

 

 

  • Crime Watch – no report

 

Kathy shared that iguanas are around the lake and discussed ways that homeowners could possibly control them.

 

  • Social Committee – Dinah Washam

 

Dinah said a megaphone can be purchased for $60-$80 online. Kathy suggested she look locally at West Marine. Blas made a motion to spend $60 for a megaphone. Doug seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed unanimously.

 

Dinah gave the cost and time required to send post cards to Juno Isles residents through a cost effective service offered by the U.S. Postal Service. Kathy expressed a concern for publishing the residents’ addresses. There was no motion.

 

Dinah said volunteers are needed to assist with the children’s games at the picnic on October 20.

 

  • Landscape Committee - Douglas Acker

 

The posts on the sign on the front island are deteriorating and will need to be replaced within the next few months. Juno Beach signs were discussed.

Dave made a motion to adjourn. Blas seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:27 p.m.
